Job Summary:

The Retail Sales Agent Specialist is responsible for the profitable growth and attainment of business goals by marketing and servicing products including but not limited to Auto, Life, Auto Club, and Roadside Assistance to new and existing customers. This role assists walk-in customers, supports office operations and markets products outside of the office via marketing calls and visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meets and exceeds sale's goals through new product sales, cross selling and retention of current customers 
  • Implements marketing programs and initiatives which further the National General brand in the local market (car dealerships, local events, etc.) 
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations and local businesses
  • Develops and manages customer relationships and serves as a resource to current and potential customers
  • Monitors key competitors in the local market area and makes suggestions on initiatives that could improve the company’s position in the marketplace 
  • Receives customer payments, issues receipts and verifies reports of receipts for cash drawers 
  • Understands, promotes and remains current on company underwriting guidelines, announcements, and memos related to changes in company policies and procedures 
  • Responsible for sales administration and reporting activities 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

 This job does not have supervisory duties

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience preferably in business-to-consumer sales

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • P&C License

Functional Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to market and sell in multi-product environment where cross selling and customer retention is essential to sales budget attainment 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written, verbal and presentation delivery with ability to clearly communicate the features and benefits of insurance and other ancillary products to customers  
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and provide excellent customer service 
  • Experience or strong willingness to develop key relationships and market our products within community organizations and the local business community 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 

Compensation: The average annualized Total Cash Compensation in 2022 was $17.00.  Total compensation includes $17.00 Hourly Base + monthly performance-based incentive. Average monthly incentive payout for 2022 was $400 ($4,800 Annual).
*Incentive based on productivity; incentive payments are not guaranteed and are governed by the terms of the applicable sales bonus plan which is subject to change at National General’s discretion
