Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for maintaining/implementing existing and new leases for all National General Companies and locations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Review all new contracts to determine if a lease is included
  • Contact IT business owner to determine embedded leases
  • Update IT/Equipment/Real Estate GL data quarterly
  • Review all new leases and renewals in ProLease
  • Review all capitalization schedules for real estate and vehicles monthly
  • Complete all IT/Equipment capitalization schedules monthly
  • Assist with all monthly journal entries for operating and finance leases
  • Complete all ROU asset and lease liability reconciliations
  • Manage property accountant
  • Manage rent payment and review process
  • Sarbanes-Oxley Controls – analysis and review
  • Account Reconciliation review/approval

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or, in-lieu of degree, equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 10+ years of experience in an Accounting role
  • 3+ years of experience overseeing work of others
  • Understanding of ASC 842
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and learn quickly
  • Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

 

Desired Skills:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Oracle
  • Spreadsheet Server or other excel add in
  • CPA
