Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for being involved in and contributing directly to test web applications using automation.  Individuals in this role must be an experienced software quality assurance professional. They may work on Windows, iOS, Mainframe, Linux and/or Web applications. This position works collaboratively with the QA Manager/Architect, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, and other QA team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Work with Automation Architect and on daily basis for planning, executing and enhancing test automation infrastructure involving functional and load tests
  • Design and develop test automation scripts using Java, Selenium Grid and TestNG on a Page Object Model(POM) based Framework
  • Able to code and deploy functional automation scripts with minimal supervision
  • Pick up manual test cases from completed sprints and convert them to functional automated scripts on continual basis
  • Find more efficient ways to design, develop, maintain and execute functional automation
  • Write custom x-paths and generate reliable web-element identifiers for Selenium API
  • Update and maintain traceability matrices to ensure test coverage with the approval of QA Leadership
  • Execute test scripts accurately and efficiently
  • Capture and communicate the results of testing accurately and clearly
  • Provide accurate report of test progress to the QA Leadership  team and follow up with development team on defects and may participate in root cause analysis discussions for all defects
  • Pro-actively follow up with QA management on issues and escalations and provide suggestions for possible resolutions
  • Work with members of Business Analysis, Application Development, and Project Management to assure timely completion of testing plans
  • Assist in all phases of code deployments; including, but not limited to, off-hours support and an occasional weekend

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 3+ years of experience in carrying out independent test automation responsibilities
  • Experienced in Object Oriented Programming and Java, JavaScript, or any other comparable language
  • Solid understanding of web based front-end testing technologies and methodologies (Selenium, JSON, JavaScript, XML, REST API, etc)
  • Good understanding of source control management, build processes, test environments, bug life cycle, and frequent code release deployment QA support activities
  • Experience with manual API testing using Postman, Swagger, SoapUI
  • Some knowledge and experience on automated API testing using SoapUI, Rest-assured, Jersey-client
  • Experienced with mobile app/browser test automation using Appium on real devices and Cloud based test execution platforms including Browser Stack/Sauce Labs
  • Some experience with test automation involving Sendgrid and Twilio messaging through API
  • Must possess some knowledge and experience working in these domains: C#, .Net, Java, JavaScript, CSS, Jenkins, TestNG, AzureDevops, SQL, HTML, DOM/POM, Xpath, Git, CI/CD, virtual environment, Selenium Grid, Cloud, Angular, iOS, Linux
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems, microservices, various architectures, and databases
  • Experience developing test scripts using automation tools across the various application layers (UI/Service/Data layers) and not just UI layer
  • Ability to schedule automation runs during afterhours or add job to trigger them during deployments to internal and production environments
  • Some experience using Selenium Grid
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field
  • QA professional with extensive automation background
  • Java expertise with certification is preferred
  • QA with a passion to code for test
  • Experience on Azure .Net environment with familiarity on ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, and Microsoft SQL
  • Knowledge and experience within Insurance domain
