Job Summary:

The Scrum Master Sr Consultant II is the facilitator and team level coach for an Agile team and stakeholders, responsible for helping the team embrace agile values, adopt and apply principles, and implement Lean-Agile practices. Actively contributes to the Scrum Master Community of Practice within Allstate and shares experiences with other Scrum Masters. They reinforce good context specific practices and techniques such as Scrum, XP, WIP limits in Kanban, or other process parameters the team has agreed upon including Definition of Ready (DoR) and the Definition of Done (DoD). The Scrum Master Sr Consultant II helps the team remove impediments and fosters an environment for high-performance, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team and that the team understands and practices agility
  • Facilitates and/or attends Scrum events as needed, and reinforces the teams agreed upon rules including the definition of ready and definition of done
  • Finds techniques for effective backlog management, and ensures the Product Owner knows how to arrange and forecast the product backlog to maximize value                        
  • Coaches the team in scrum values and practices, empiricism, self-organization, cross functionality, continuous improvement
  • Helps the team create high value products that by removing impediments, and protecting the team from distractions and complacency
  • Causes change both inside and outside the team, to maximize the value delivered by the team
  • Ensures coordination between teams for integrations
  • Leads team efforts in relentless improvement by helping team members take responsibility for their actions, facilitating the team retrospectives, and teaching problem-solving techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 or more years of related experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 Certified PSM / CSM, / PMI-ACP / SSM1st level


Functional Skills

  • Experience working in software development environments
  • Experience facilitating meetings and fostering collaboration across diverse groups of individuals
  • Experience working as a Scrum Master on more than one team with a proven record of success
  • Knowledge and understanding of Agile values and principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Scrum values, principles, and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of Servant Leadership
  • Ability to be a regular contributor to SM CoPs
  • Ability to coach and influence others
  • Ability to coach PO within team to develop their understanding of their role in developing the product and steering the team
  • Has basic knowledge of Dev-Ops and it’s benefits to Agility
  • Experience identifying anti-patterns and articulating tradeoffs

National General prides itself on offering our employees a robust Total Rewards package which includes base salary.  The base range offered for the role is: $68,500 - $103,000 and may vary based on internal equity, and job-related skills, knowledge and experience; among other factors.  Other financial components may be added as part of the competitive compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
