Job Description

Primary Purpose:

This position is responsible for the retail sales and customer service aspect of the business, as well as, the adherence of underwriting guidelines to ensure profitability and growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieve growth by setting and hitting sales targets
  • Develop and implement a strategic sales plan that expands market penetration and grows the overall brand
  • Recruit, coach, and lead the Agent/Underwriters to achieve optimal performance
  • Market and promote strong customer relationships within our real estate professional partners, so we grow the overall number of relationships, as well as, the number of sales within our current relationships
  • Present sales, revenue, and expense reports and forecasts to management
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for profitable growth in order to achieve a balanced, profitable and quality book while protecting Company assets
  • Analyze key metrics of company results and identify areas of improvement and development opportunities
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements as well as internal policies, procedures and processing standards
  • Audit assigned accounts and provides feedback to underwriters
  • Interact with numerous departments including Product Management, IT, Marketing, and Policy Operations to ensure that all in place underwriting processes and procedures are being executed properly
  • Provide feedback and make recommendations on any gaps in order to improve the processes in place
  • Work with IT partners to increase efficiencies by automating underwriting referral functions and enforcement where possible

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 10+ years of Insurance Industry experience
  • Solid knowledge of Property and Casualty products, insurance operations, finance and actuarial concepts, regulatory environment, reinsurance, account management, underwriting and producer management
  • Record of successfully achieving business goals, including managing staff members
  • Comprehensive knowledge of coverage forms and rating procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to negotiate, work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership including ability to mentor, motivate, and manage staff
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of technology including experience with implementing new systems and enhancing existing systems
  • Experience with designing and mapping workflows
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills:

  • Graduate degree
  • Insurance professional designation (AIC, CIC, CPCU)
  • Project management experience
