Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Entry level position in Claims support, with responsibility in learning the various functions of Claims support including but not limited to: mail, imaging, coding, and processing

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Assist with processing a high volume of incoming claims mail daily
  • Learn the various claims systems and vendor site with a focus on where the claim number is located
  • Understand the various components of claims documents, the proper handling of each, and prepare for next steps
  • Receive incoming mail and sort appropriately
  • Enter confidential information submitted by vendors, from various documents, into designated systems
  • Follow guidelines regarding validating counts provided and the counts returned
  • Utilize office equipment, including printers, scanners, fax machines, etc. to transcribe and prepare claim information
  • Get familiar with the office equipment and learn how to remediate any issues that arise
  • Understand the software for changing scanning options (duplex, color, etc.)
  • Provide strong customer service to all vendor inquiries
  • Enter documentation (bulk payments, W9s, 1099s) submitted by vendors into designated systems (i.e. EPIC claims system, Vendor Maintenance Databases)
  • Submit transcriptions using vendor software systems
  • Receive completed transcriptions using vendor web platforms
  • Transcribe recorded statements sent to vendors within a set time period
  • Audit transcriptions received back from vendors for quality and turn- around time

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to gather data, compiles information, and prepares reports. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Database and records management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse area.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrates a high degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion.
  • Demonstrates professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective organization, time management and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner.
