Primary Purpose:

This position is to provide advanced clerical support and processing of claims, under specific authority, within the department. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Professionally and independently communicate complex claims and policy information, telephonically or written, with internal and external customers  
  • Communicate with vendors
  • Promptly and accurately type claims forms and documents
  • Perform ancillary claim functions, which may include assigning vendors to appraise damages or ordering police reports, that support the claims handling process following pre-established protocols
  • Data entry, including claims related information
  • Maintaining and compiling claims information for statistical purposes
  • Complete reports and other tasks/functions as assigned
  • Conform to internal workflow standards

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks, under pressure, and adhere to deadlines
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and learn quickly
  • Strong focus to details and accuracy
  • Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments
  • Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Prior insurance experience or experience in the field of the specific department’s specialty


Desired Skills:

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking)
  • 1+ years of experience in the Auto Insurance Industry
  • College Degree or equivalent education, training or work-related experience
