Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for providing business analytical support by documenting business requirements for the development of new business systems and enhancements to existing systems.  Work closely with Claims technology team, Claims operations, IT department, vendors, other departments and other business resources to document and implement solutions that are effective, informative and support the Claims staff. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project planning by contributing to the creation of project timeline with individual tasks
  • Analyze and document AS IS and TO BE business processes ensuring that issues and concerns are addressed with project deliverables
  • Gather and document quality user requirements and create supporting documentation per established procedures (ie. requirements, BRD)
  • Prepare formal presentations, written reports and general project documents as deemed appropriate
  • Work with test lead to define testing strategy and identify/build test cases
  • Work with training department to develop training strategy; define training requirements
  • Assist in the execution of a project by leading requirement review meetings with IT and sponsor to obtain sign-off
  • Work with development team to review and approve design that addresses business need
  • Participate in and/or lead project meetings as needed; publish meeting minutes
  • Provide project updates, timeline deliverables and escalation of issues to project manager, team and business sponsor
  • Execute testing plan which includes participating in and/or monitoring results; approve results
  • Lead acceptance testing with business representatives
  • Coordinate rollout activities with business which include coordinating pilot (if applicable) and preparing release notes, user guides and training material for the end users
  • Complete production acceptance of change which includes end user participation and validation of successful implementation
  • Post production support by performing knowledge transfer to Support team to ensure they are able to investigate and resolve issues; provide guidance and/or help in investigating and resolving issues
  • Post implementation review and contribute to identification of lessons learned
  • Provide support to Project Management group and other business units as directed
  • Plan and organize assignments to achieve objectives in a timely manner in accordance with applicable quality standards
  • Inform Management of any facts, events or information that may impact the success of a project or deliverable

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 2+ years of experience in insurance claims center and/or technology environment
  • 1+ years of experience as a business system analyst
  • Speak to and present information to groups of people with ease; meeting facilitation
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Possess effective verbal, written and face-to-face communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with outsourced staff both US and Internationally
  • Possess strong attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

Desired Skills:

  • 1+ years of experience in documenting business requirements and implementing projects
  • Possess a general understanding of claims applications
  • Possess a solid understanding of the claim handling process, systems and vendor interfaces
  • Maintain appropriate licensing and educational requirements (i.e. 10 hours of business writing and analysis courses)
  • Understands the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions and empathize with others
  • Possess knowledge of project execution and project leadership
  • Self-motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision
