Position/Title:  IT Applications Operations Lead/Supervisor (Must have FTP -File Transfer Experience)


Primary Purpose:

Lead a team of information technology analyst responsible for the analysis, support and maintenance of applications related to Application Operations.  Oversee production support, enhancements, and cost while ensuring that project/department milestones/goals are met within approved budgets.  Supervise a full-time staff of internal team members, contractor employees, and contracted professional services.  This position can be located in either the Dallas, TX or Cleveland, OH office locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing applications to determine technical changes, schedule projects and  resources, and monitor project timelines
  • Implement solutions consistent with the requirements of the assigned business unit
  • Direct and lead production support functions in support of business strategy
  • Develop staffing plans that optimize cost and provide maximum value to the business – track and take appropriate steps to stay within budget
  • Participate and provide input to the SLA development process and ensure internal SLA's are met
  • Provide advice and counsel to vendor relationships
  • Meet regularly with team to gather work statuses
  • Discuss work progress and obstacles with assigned team and or direct reports, and provide advice, guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback
  • Establish measureable individual and team objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals
  • Mentor and lead assigned resources in their respective career development
  • Establish patterns and best practices on usage, monitor usage and track license availability/utilization
  • Consider “total cost of ownership” to solutions developed and their corresponding architecture in minimizing ongoing support costs (labor, hardware, licensing, vendor)


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 3+ years of experience with Commercial Off The Shelf products
  • Expert knowledge of File Transfer Protocols and encryption; FTPS/SSL, SFTP/SSH, PGP
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages; VB script, Powershell
  • Experience working with vendor support teams in facilitating enhancements and resolution of issues
  • Expert working knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing and implementation
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • Effective mentoring and leadership skills
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills


Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in computer science, business administration, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Background in IT system monitoring and alerting, as well as, incident management
  • Expert knowledge of SQL Queries
  • Background supporting Service Management software
  • Expert knowledge of server based file transfer applications, preferably Globalscape EFT
  • Expert knowledge of batch process scheduling applications
  • Good understanding of networking technologies
  • Good understanding of Wintel server technologies
