Primary Purpose:

This position is responsible for developing test plans to address the testing needs of automated regression, load, stress and performance testing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute and analyze performance and load tests
  • Meet test objectives by determining automated testing methods, cycles, phases, and conditions; set up testing environment and equipment
  • Write automated test cases, test scripts, and scenarios
  • Implement software Quality Assurance automation standards and processes
  • Work proactively with developers and testers to execute test plans and debug software during the product development cycle
  • Read, understand and correctly interprets business and technical requirements and develop scripts to test these requirements
  • Evaluate check-ins, merges, and environment changes to uncover issues during the SDLC
  • Participate in software architecture and code review as it pertains to SQA practices
  • Maintain the quality and overall integrity of the test data
  • Write, implement and report status for all load testing scenarios used for testing
  • Analyze test results and provide explanations of results to help in the tuning process
  • Identify misalignments with goals, objectives, and work direction against the organizational strategy; make suggestions to course correct
  • Assist in coaching and mentoring junior or new Quality Assurance Engineers

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 5+ years of experience with automated testing, developing standards, reporting research results, software debugging and software testing, and Quality Assurance process
  • 5+ years of QAE experience in Windows client and/or UWP applications, and cloud based application testing
  • 2+ years SDET or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Solid scripting and programming skills (with emphasis on C/C++, C#, Visual Basic, VBScript, Java, SQL and Batch Files & JavaScript)
  • Solid understanding of software architecture technologies (e.g. HTML, VB, .Net, XML, Java, Web Services, SOA, SOAP, Unix/Linux knowledge)
  • Experience with the following protocols: HTTP and Web Services
  • Experience with software quality assurance methodologies and actual hands-on testing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Experience with test planning, strategy, test script development and test execution
  • Understanding of low level network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows operating system (file system, registry, scheduled tasks, etc.), desktop software and web-based applications

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience in Insurance or Financial related industries
  • Proficiency with C / C++, C# and Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure Hardware
  • Experience with web and desktop UI test automation, accessibility, and localization test frameworks, e.g. Appium, Windows SDK test tools
  • Experience testing REST or SOAP APIs
  • Experience working in an Agile, Scrum, or Kanban development environment
  • Working knowledge of debugging tools such as Charles, Wireshark or Fiddler
