Job Description

Primary Purpose:

The Acquisitions Manager will report to the Vice President, Operations and Customer Experience and will work closely with Departmental VPs, Regional VP’s, Sales Management, and the Product, Finance, and Legal teams. The position will be responsible for contributing to the growth of Direct Auto by leading the Independent Agent acquisition process from beginning to end.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Responsible for utilizing various methods to research, identify and vet potential independent agent acquisition targets
  • Make/manage initial contact, and move prospects through the stages of the acquisition process including: securing Non-disclosure agreements, requesting valuation documents, participating in the valuation process with internal stakeholders, presenting offers, negotiating agreements, and assisting with due diligence
  • Present Acquisition Proposals to upper management and secure offer approvals
  • Manage preparation of final valuation and offer documents in concert with Product Managers, Finance, Legal and Business Development staffs
  • Manage staff needed to insure robust pipeline development and timely transitions though each stage of the acquisition process
  • Interface with internal departments and external partners to develop and implement strategies, plans and business models. Identifies alternative solutions as appropriate

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of and experience within the Auto Insurance industry
  • Knowledge of the non-standard customer base demographics and needs
  • Strong business development and sales leadership experience
  • Experience working and negotiating with Independent Insurance Agencies
  • Previous success prospecting, marketing and closing deals within the business to business environment
  • Ability to establish professional relationships with functional area leaders (VP of Ops, Controller, VP of HR), with some proven experience with C level executives (CFO, COO, CEO)
  • Travel as needed
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • High degree of initiative, mature judgment, and discretion
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role
