Primary Purpose:

Protection of National General’s assets, people, product, and places. Responsible for compliance of both contracted and non-contracted physical security resources for all National General Locations.  Help build and maintain an Enterprise level Physical Security Program that meets or exceeds all regulatory, industry, and client requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Assist with overall Enterprise Physical Security program development and implementation.  This includes creating business cases, reviewing quotes, and negotiating with external third parties
  • Ensure enterprise compliance of physical security agencies contracted by National General.  This includes reviewing daily activity logs, incident reports, walk-around schedules, etc. and communicating with external senior leaders of contracted staff
  • Oversee Regulatory, Client, and Internal Audit examinations with each business unit validation that requires physical security information is available and timely
  • Ensure employed staff are adhering to National General policies as well as internal procedures. This includes regular assessments as well as development of internal employee awareness material
  • Review daily activity logs, issue logs and other logs for all contractors and employed staff on a regular basis
  • Assist in new hire on boarding procedures and employee terminations
  • Operate and maintain equipment specific to access control facilities including alarm systems, access devices to include installation and maintenance of any related security system
  • Investigate and prepare reports on physical security incidents and suspicious activities
  • Ensure that required security training is conducted, completed, monitored, measured and refreshed
  • Remediate deficiencies identified during regular reviews
  • Monitor the maintenance of physical security deficiencies to ensure timely repair
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management and coworkers


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 8+ years of experience in Corporate Security or Asset Protection or direct relevant experience with Law Enforcement and/or Military agency
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical security requirements of regulations and security frameworks (HIPAA, PCI, SOX, ISO27000 and NIST Cybersecurity Frameworks)
  • 3+ years of experience of managing physical security compliance in a highly regulated organization
  • Demonstrated detailed oriented and self-starter
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and direction and in collaborative team environments.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and manage varying priorities and projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate security risk and compliance related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to provide support after normal business hours
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to travel


Desired Skills:

  • CPP/PSP certification
  • Hands-on technician experience with video, access control and BA platforms
