Job Description

Primary Purpose:

The Designer will support the business, building and managing point-of-purchase (POP) print advertising and promotion assets. This role will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to concept, design, and build/evolve flyers, posters, brochures, and other print collateral, while also contributing to the overall visual brand identity of National General subsidiary brands. 

We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated candidate with solid visual design capabilities. Understanding of user experience and illustration is a plus.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions of this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Ongoing development/updates of print materials for National General brands (Direct, ABC, PEIC, etc.)
  • Create innovative designs for new promotions or specific creative cycles (executed consistently with the creative direction)
  • Maintain and update collateral hosted on Print & Promotion portal for brand agents
  • Design and build flyers and other promotional materials as requested for local marketing efforts
  • Be a steward for each brand’s standards to help maintain consistency of look, feel, and tone
  • Work with print production partners to ensure accuracy and quality of printed collateral
  • Work with other departments and external agencies as needed to support projects that impact user experience in the store
  • Responsible for asset management (photo library, logos, production files) and the organization and archival of company-wide marketing communications work
  • Manage design project initiatives ensuring that deliverables are on time, creative management feedback is captured, and the highest of design standards are being met

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or Graphic Design or similar discipline and 5+ years’ experience in graphic design and production
  • Experience with proofing materials and print production, including proper setup of files for delivery to print vendor
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, & Acrobat)
  • Ability to professionally collaborate with internal and external creative teams
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and juggle multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong creative, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills
  • Ability to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Possess strong conceptual skills, high-level sense of design, layout, and typography, a broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions
  • Understanding of different print mediums and design best practices for each
  • Illustration skills (vectors, scripts, illustrations, infographics)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Retail & Consumer Packaged Goods Design
  • Naturally inquisitive and self-motivated, goal-oriented, collaborative, a strong communicator and a team player
