Job Description


Primary Purpose:

Responsible for supporting the Claims Department by documenting a high volume of financial transactions and corresponding with claimants, insurance carriers and lenders.  Work with both internal and external customers with professionalism and courtesy.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Input a high volume of financial transactions and other correspondences from claimants, insurance carriers and lenders
  • Assist with evaluating and following up on property damage claims as needed
  • Ensure tasks are processed efficiently within time guidelines and service standards identified within the department
  • Seek out from adjusters claim decision and enter information into corresponding claim files
  • Follow established procedures as outlined for the Claims Department
  • Follow up on claim settlements, adherence to internal policies and compliance guidelines
  • Follow a structured claim process, understand claim unit procedures and adhere to statutory Fair Claims Practices in order to meet defined goals and responsibilities

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective planning and organizational skills including time management, prioritization, attention to detail and self-starter attitude 
  • 1 + years of experience in a Claims Adjusting environment or Claims Call Center
  • Possess a basic understanding of Insurance claims processes and Insurance policy language
  • Possess skills in effective customer service which includes meeting quality standards for services and satisfying internal and external customers
  • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

 

Desired Skills:

  • Associates Degree, 2-year college degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • Obtain/Maintain appropriate licensing (i.e. P & C Adjuster License)
