Primary Purpose:

Provide the technical leadership and operational management of the distributed Server Technology teams. Coordinate the work of the team to develop, implement and support new/existing virtual and physical platforms. Work with other IT groups to ensure operational stability, application performance, and monitoring to meet the needs of the company.   Direct the development of infrastructure standards, configuration planning, capacity management and performance reporting.

  • Lead and manage the Intel systems and related infrastructure (to include EMC vBlocks, Cisco UCS, and other virtual environment hardware and software) for Development, Test/QA, and Production environments while meeting or exceeding service level agreements and maintaining operational efficiencies
  • Develop and direct a highly skilled Intel team to deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with competing priorities
  • Complete regular performance evaluations of team members and provide salary recommendations to executive management
  • Incorporate the strategic vision and goals of the company, business units, and IT into new projects
  • Conduct regular license audits and budget as required to maintain compliance with software agreements 
  • Stay abreast of technological advances and market trends in order to make recommendations to management regarding opportunities for improvement and/or cost reduction
  • Provide dashboard reporting on service level metrics, KPIs, and general team performance
  • Assist executive management in development and enforcement of departmental standards, methodologies, policies and procedures
  • Interact closely with customers to understand project and daily operational requirements
  • Present complex ideas or situations in a clear, simple, and an easily understandable manner
  • Participate in system or application triage with support teams and / or vendors
  • Drive toward the achievement of business results in a manner that focuses on profit and service
  • Establish best practices to maintain, operate and monitor systems in real-time
  • Evaluate and refine processes for handling alerts and outages while incorporating appropriate tools, monitoring, and site metrics
  • Ensure continuous operation of all vital systems 24/7 and bring a focused attention to processes and actions necessary to minimize business interruption, enable issue detection, and expedite remediation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT Operations (Storage and Backups), Network Services, IT Security, Database Services, and Applications Development to ensure seamless integration of work packages within the environment
  • Ensure appropriate compliance standards and security are implemented at all levels
  • Develop IT financial budget for planned projects and annual budgeting activities


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 10+ years in Information Technology in roles of increasing technical responsibility related to server management
  • 7+ years in a supervisory role
  • 5+ years specific experience with vBlocks and UCS from a hands-on background
  • VMware experience implementing and administering mission critical enterprise class systems in large, highly available enterprise level virtualized environments - minimum 2000+ end users / 1000+ virtual servers
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with VMware tools; vROPS, vRealize, and SRM
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clustering services, load balancing and replication and disaster recovery services
  • Experience with datacenter consolidation, virtualization troubleshooting, and performance tuning
  • Extensive understanding of infrastructure 'core services' including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, systems management, data replication & backup, network security principles, etc.
  • Ability to coordinate with, and lead geographically dispersed teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Experience with Enterprise class datacenter hardware to include Cisco UCS, Nutanix, EMC VBlock/VxRail, Extreme 1/0, and Pure Storage arrays
  • Private, Hybrid, and Public Cloud experience such as AWS and Azure
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Rancher, PKS, and their use in the Enterprise
  • Vendor certifications in applicable disciplines from vendors such as Citrix (CCA, CCP), Cisco (CCNA, CCNDA), VMware (VCP-DCA) and / or Microsoft (MCSE) or similar (can be expired)
  • Project management experience and certifications (PMP)
  • Experienced in ITIL/ITSM practices
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance standards such as HIPPA, PCI, SOX, NIST, and ISO27001
  • Experience in a financial services organization, or large, publicly traded organizations
