Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for supervising all aspects of team member investigations which includes managing, assigning and providing investigative direction.  Responsible for developing and updating department procedures and standards, as well as, serve as Subject Matter Expert in the assigned territory regarding all anti-fraud initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review investigations for closure to ensure investigations have been thorough and efficient, and abide by company standards
  • Evaluate performance, provide coaching and feedback, conduct performance reviews and recommend salary changes for personnel
  • Interview and select new personnel
  • Conduct field re-inspections of underwriting cases to ensure quality and integrity of assignments
  • Conduct monthly review of all active investigations
  • Assists in monitoring and controlling allocated/unallocated expenses to include indirect oversight of the vendor relationship
  • Integrate within the industry by attending and participating in local and state anti-fraud initiatives
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the company’s anti-fraud initiatives and fraud awareness education; provides necessary training as needed
  • Complete reports and projects as assigned


Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 5+ years of experience in investigative or insurance claims handling
  • Possess knowledge of SIU policies and procedures in resolving and/or providing direction to SIU Investigators for claims investigation
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of changes in state and area
  • Ability to develops procedures and standards for efficient investigations
  • Ability to consistently handle both individual and ring investigations
  • Ability to interpret research and opinions and apply accurately to establish investigative action plans
  • Possess understanding of global company knowledge, totality of impact of decisions and leadership abilities
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to process large amount of investigative data in a timely fashion using various computer databases
  • Ability to travel up to 20%


Desired Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry and/or in the investigation of insurance fraud
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role
  • Successful completion of one or more professional designations: FCLS (Fraud Claims Law Specialist), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CIFI (Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator) FCLA (Fraud Claims Law Associate)
  • Higher Educational Degree (Master’s Degree)
  • Possess prior law enforcement experience that involves investigations
