Job Description


Primary Purpose:

Actively participate on a team of underwriters with the responsibility of accessing risk and determining if the case is a good a match for the company

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  • Underwrite new business, renewals and endorsements in accordance with company guidelines, authority levels and procedures
  • Provide assistance to agents and customers on non-UW service issues as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Independent agents
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal employees across all departments
  • Achieve Personal Lines Financial objectives for assigned agents for loss ratio, retention and new business
  • Support and implement company objectives in regards to rating initiatives and agency management
  • Accountable for education and training of agents on systems, products and rating

 

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 3+ years of Property and Casualty insurance industry experience
  • In depth knowledge of Personal Line products
  • Experience in training large or small groups and/or public speaking
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must perform well in high-energy, dynamic and team-oriented environments
  • Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines
  • Must be able and willing to travel to agency visits, functions, and training as requested

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using multiple processing systems
  • Willingness to act as a valued team member
