Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure for the Microsoft server environment at the various National General Datacenters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support Windows System platforms, connectivity, and related system software
  • Perform installations, configuration changes, and maintenance of hardware, firmware, operating systems, and software
  • Develop and maintain scripted and automated tools for management of the Windows environment
  • Analyze business and user requirements to design and deliver appropriate technical solutions
  • Work closely with internal teams such as Development, Network, DBAs, and Storage
  • Possess strong Presentation and Customer Service Skills
  • Participate in system performance tuning and technical troubleshooting sessions
  • Strive continuously to make enhancements to the server environment, processes/procedures, and documentation

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • Expert working knowledge of Windows Server Operating System installation, operation, and troubleshooting in an Enterprise environment
  • Expert working knowledge of VMware ESXi 6.x hypervisor installation, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Expert working knowledge of Cisco UCS server hardware
  • Experience working within an ITIL framework or other environment using change control processes
  • Working knowledge of cloud architecture and hybrid cloud solutions
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • One or more Microsoft certifications to include MCP, MCSE, or similar industry certification
  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays and platforms
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Computer Sciences or related field
  • Strong Active Directory, DNS, IIS and PowerScript knowledge desired
  • Experience with domain consolidations/migrations and acquisition onboarding
  • MS Exchange 2013, Azure, and O365 experience
  • Understanding of Change Control procedures, High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Distributed Systems architectures
  • VMware ESXi, Citrix XenApp and SQL Database familiarity
  • VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP6-DCV)
  • Expert EMC/Dell VBlock knowledge
  • Strong understanding of HIPPA, NIST, PCI, SOX, or similar regulatory requirements
  • Project Management certification
