Job Description

The Underwriting Consultant I actively participates on a team of underwriters with the responsibility of assessing risk and determining if the case is a good a match for the company. This role review less complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzes the quality of assigned books of business through agent and profile reviews and audits

• Assists with Reviews on agent's books of business for book roll opportunities by quoting basic policies and determining acceptability, pricing, and risk management opportunities

• Handles risk selection decisions in a quality, timely, and productive manner

• Trains agents on systems, products and ratings

• Documents and communicates underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and decisions across segments

• Reviews internal and external data for assigned business segment(s) to direct pricing, underwriting, and sales decisions

• Underwrites new business, renewals and endorsements in accordance with company guidelines, authority levels and procedures

• Aids agents and customers on non-UW service issues

• Develops and maintains relationships with Independent agents and employees across all departments



Education

• 4 year Bachelors Degree (Preferred)



Experience

• 2 or more years of experience (Preferred)



Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job does not have supervisory duties.



Functional Skills

• Some experience in training large or small groups and/or public speaking

• Effective verbal and written communication skills

• Basic analytical skills

• Effective organization and time management skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Willingness to pursue Insurance professional designations such as IIC, CPCU, AU, and/or ARM

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $47,440.00 - 70,415.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
