Primary Purpose:

Responsible for data preparation, data mining, model development, report building and results presentation in support of Claims Operations.  Works closely with senior leaders to identify opportunities, set objectives, and formulate analytics strategies that result in measurable impact to the National General Insurance business.

  • Mentor junior team members
  • Lead analytic initiatives with accountability for results
  • Develop a deep understanding of drivers of  business performance and dynamically monitor critical operational measures
  • Own and maintain stakeholder relationships to gather requirements, translate requirements into organized workflows and deliver timely, insightful, and actionable analysis
  • Collaborate with Claims Leadership  in targeted management of functional areas  utilizing existing and new measures of business outcomes
  • Influence the greater internal business environment and executive leadership through polished delivery of analytic studies
  • Develop highly effective predictive methods that support and improve operational decision making throughout the claims lifecycle
  • Accountable for data quality, report accuracy, model integrity, and business impact
  • Maintain expert knowledge of claims operations and the property and casualty industry
  • Position Claims Analytics at the leading edge of data science, technology, and analytics applications to claims operations and the insurance industry

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience developing in SQL
  • 3+ years of experience in Python, R, SAS, programming languages, or analytic packages
  • 3+ years of experience developing quantitative approaches on large-scale data sources
  • Deep experience with data preparation, description, prediction, classification, clustering, and outlier detection.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of initiative, mature judgment and discretion

Desired Skills:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
  • Experience working with text analysis and unstructured data
  • 7+ years of experience in writing advanced SQL in multiple syntaxes
  • 7+ years of experience in Python, R, SAS, programming languages, or analytic packages
  • Expert knowledge in one or more of the following: statistics, time series analysis, numerical analysis, numerical optimization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science
  • Experience with business intelligence solutions, automation, cloud computing, data warehousing, data lakes, and implementation  tools on current technology platforms
  • Experience working in P&C
  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies
